Our Labrador rescue project started in Portugal as people had been seeing us with our own, at the time 4 Labs, and we were getting requests for help whenever a Lab needed to be re-homed or somehow needed support. It turned out there was an enormous need for help! Many dogs suffer tremendous emotional as well as physical neglect and I wanted to help them get a better life. Sometimes they will need special medical support they are not getting. Sometimes they have just been left all their life alone in a tiny kennel and are literally craving love. Sometimes Mama Labs are arriving with their breasts hanging nearly on the floor due to the abuse they had to endure having one litter after the other every. single. heat! Sometimes they are simply abandoned on the streets. Yes, even those with pedigrees!

With a huge passion for dogs, and in particular Labradors, I started rescuing these poor souls. At the same time, our pedigree Labradors that work as therapy and emotional support dogs in schools, nurseries and old people’s homes began to work in exchange for donations for the rescues only. That has been an enormous help! And we thank every single family, school and social institution from the bottom of our heart that has been contributing to this support. Of course, they benefitted from lots of Labrador love, too, of course, but they helped the rescues all along, too! Labs for Labs! 

However, my canine family has been increasing and, for some reason, more and more Labs have been crossing my path and the requests have just been multiplying on end, making it an impossible task to manage alone.

This is when LABRADORSOPHY came to life (Labrador-sophy, ie. Labrador knowledge). I wanted to create an international and special space to provide our four-legged friends with the best possible means to live a healthy, loving and joyable life with dignity, regardless of their background, age and state of health.
